There is No God Like You

I Chronicles 17:20
“LORD, there is none like You, nor is there any God besides You, according to everything that we have heard with our ears”.

What a great boast. It's not that God is just better. There are no other gods. Should there are other systems of worship and gods in name. But they aren't real. Isaiah 44:15 says, "Then it (a tree) becomes something for a person to burn, so he takes one of them and gets warm; he also makes a fire and bakes bread. He also makes a god and worships it; he makes it a carved image and bows down before it."
I understand this as God fashioned with in us a desire to worship. Everyone will choose which god he worships. Most choose their faith based on that which they were raised in. Others don't fear a typical god, but have a primary passion. It may be money, success, love, sex, being happy, substances and so on. They might not know it, but that is their god. The bible calls them idols. They could be literal idols or they could represent their passion.
While some passions are noble, they all are limited. Some bring slavery. This is because God created us to be in relationship to Him. Anything short of that is limited.
God is unique as He is an individual that wants to be known and He seeks to love. Revelation 3:20 says "Behold I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears and opens the door I will come in and sup with him and he with Me." That speaks of friendship. That concept would shock most. Many would respond if the knew that.
Think of all that are hungry for connection. God is the best friend. Granted, it's different than a conversation with a friend. But there are similarities. We do pray and He does answer.
What God brings is His presence and all all that accompanies Him. Romans 8:14-16 says, 'For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons and daughters of God. For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons and daughters by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God'. He gives us His Spirit. It's a spirit of adoption. Think of parents wanting to adopt a child. They are so eager for him or her. Nothing is so welcoming. Our new spirit cries out "Father". He responds with love. To top it off His Spirit connects with our spirit that we are His children. We feel this love. His abiding presence is there and will always be if we walk according to His ways. No other faith can offer this.
We shout with David that there is no other God like You. God brings much more. The romans passage says that we are led by the Spirit. God promised to lead us. There is no better life or career coach. He also equips us for jobs and tasks. He has designed each of us uniquely and He knows where and what would be a blessing to us and others. What other god does this?
God also provides for us. He teaches us the value of work and expects us to do so. He wants us to be blessed by our efforts. But with us having done that, He blesses us with enough. He also contents our hearts. That is of great value. To be in want is a bad state. We pursue and end up empty often with broken lives around us.
Thank You God. You have blessed us with Your presence. You are enough. Thank You for filling us. Thank You for adopting and loving us. You have made us so happy. There is no God like You.
