2 Samuel 10:19
“When all the kings who were subject to Hadadezer saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they made peace with Israel and became subject to them. So the Arameans were afraid to help the Ammonites anymore.”
This is what God does for His children. Proverbs 16:7 says, "When a man’s ways are pleasing to the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him". We don't accomplish this. God does it. I can recall several times, I had people who disliked me and were working against me. One was a boss. But I had a friend who was his boss. When he learned that, he left me alone. I smiled inwardly. God protected me from a powerful person.
This particular lesson taught me that I didn't have to fear man. It was a tough lesson, as I was a hard worker and was used to my bosses liking me. But this one didn't. It was frustrating. However, I had to let it go. I would do my job to the best of my ability and leave it at that. I saw God as my boss. I would still be respectful to my boss, but I couldn't control him. My best had to be enough. God showed me favor in other ways to encourage me.
I had another experience last year where I had another individual who didn't like me. I had to be careful of this person, as I sensed bad intentions. I would change my routine to avoid them. At the same time I sensed some of that persons friends give me the cold shoulder. I had no clue what their issues were. I was friendly and civil, but did my best to avoid them.
After a couple months my spouse got sick which caused many of my coworkers to provide meals for us. This circumstance disarmed these. The original person never changed towards me, but their friend did. I still sell seek to avoid them, but am civil. This was weird, as I sensed trouble mounting. Like the coming of a storm. Thunder is heard and lightning is seen. What's next is the storm itself. That's what this felt like. All of the sudden, it was gone.
I still have no clue what the issues were. My guess is the original person fabricated something and it went from there. I'll find out in heaven, but I know that God is for me. Just as like with David. He had multiple armies against him. God pulled through for him.
God does this for He loves us. Every parent wants good things for their children. Through this protection onlookers praise God and some come to Him. Jesus said in John 12:32, "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me." He does this. We all choose or ignore Him.
Thank You, God that You have helped me choose You. Thank You for a life of protection.
