God’s Guidance

2 Samuel 7:15
“But My loving devotion will never be removed from him as I removed it from Saul, whom I moved out of your way.”

God does wonderful things for His children. Here it says He moved Saul out of David's way. He does the same for us. It doesn't mean we always win. It just means as we follow Him His will is accomplished in us.
Saul had a purpose in David's life. Those years of being on the run were learning years for him. He learned to trust the Lord and how to lead and care for many. Once he was ready, Saul was moved out of his way.
We will have similar experiences. We may have an adversary in our lives. We are to learn what God wants to teach us. We will feel pressure and challenges. They are all part of what He wants to teach us. We are to trust Him and know that He isn't surprised. When the bully has served his purpose, he will be moved from our way.
The world emphasizes winning and ending up on top. That isn't our concern. We trust Him for the outcome. We are to be content with what we have. Psalm 16:5,6 says, "The LORD is the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You support my lot. The measuring lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; Indeed, my inheritance is beautiful to me." God is in charge of what we have. He will also give us the contentment to be happy in it.
Proverbs 14:14 says, "The backslider in heart receives the fill of his own ways, but a good man is rewarded for his ways." Psalm 23 says, "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want." As we trust Him, we won't be filled with cravings, but will be content. The backslider in heart is full of too many desires. That isn't good. Part of the process is to deny ourselves (Matthew 16:24). The Lord will guide us as to what to keep and what to sacrifice. It's like weeding a garden. Some things are to be removed.
It's nice not to worry about all this. Proverbs 3:5,6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths." We can joyfully go through our days, trusting that He's got us. We don't need to stress whether we are falling behind. He's got us.
The group Petra had a song, The Road to Zion with a lyric that said this, "Sometimes it's good to look back down. We've come so far, we've gained much. But hope is not where we've been. Hope is Whose waiting at the end." You have been so faithful. Like George Bailey learned, It's been a wonderful life. All the seasons of faithfulness and good friends. You've been with and blessed our children. Thank You.
God removed Saul from David's path. I'm sure there have been much arrangement of circumstances that we are unaware of. We may learn of all those in heaven.
Thank You Lord for this. We trust You. You have been so faithful. Thank You for all Your guidance. Thank You that You'll continue to do so and bring us home.
