Ephesians 3:7
“of which I was made a minister, according to the gift of God’s grace which was given to me according to the working of His power.”
God has given us all gifts to work in ministry. Some are professional ones, but most aren't. These gifts coincide with our desire. We like to do those things we are good at. In a sense these gifts are skills that He has given us. However, the last words in this verse is key, "according to the working of His power". He takes the gifts and supercharges them.
Jesus said in John 14:12, "Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever believes in Me will also do the works that I am doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father." A couple chapters later he explains why this happens when He goes to the Father (16:7). "But I tell you the truth, it is profitable for you that I should go away; for unless I go away the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you."
Jesus' sacrifice righted our relationship with God, so the Spirit can come in us and empower us. What an amazing ride it is. We have no clue what cool things He would do. Any of us believers can look back in amazement and smile. We might be in careers that are great that we didn't realize we would do. We are involved in serving in ways that are such a great fit for us. We've cultivated friendships and outreach relationships that are awesome.
God also works in altering circumstances. To think that He is doing this for all on the planet is simply mind blowing. But He does. We see the Lord work this way with Paul and his team in Acts 16:6-10, "They passed through the Phrygian and Galatian region, after being forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia; and after they came to Mysia, they were trying to go into Bithynia, and the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them; and passing by Mysia, they went down to Troas. And a vision appeared to Paul in the night: a man of Macedonia was standing and pleading with him, and saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” When he had seen the vision, we immediately sought to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them."'
All of this God involvement is to bring others to Him, to bless us and to glorify His name. He wants others to receive His forgiveness, to be blessed and to join the team to pass on that forgiveness.
Lord, thank You for all of this. You sent Your Son to die for us, You've welcomed us and caused us to be born again. We've been cleansed and are drawn closer to You daily. You use us to be a blessing to others. All of this is done harmoniously through Your great wisdom and power.
