Ephesians 1:20
“which is brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at the right hand in heavenly places.”
What did He bring about? That we would know the hope of our calling and the richness of our inheritance. It says this in done in power which Christ has wrought. This is Him maneuvering circumstances and giving insights. This is all in accordance with God honoring our free will. He won't force this, but He will influence. It's like leading the horse to water, but not forcing a drink.
God has gone so far to restore people to Him. It's like when we attempt to repair a relationship that's gone bad. We will try a few times, but abandon the effort. We may even develop a grudge, not God. He forgives seventy times seven. This is a great story in which Peter asks Jesus how many times he is to forgive. He thought he was being generous by suggesting seven. Jesus blows this our of the water by seventy times seven.
This sustained love is simply amazing. God is so far superior to us in every way. It's like a strong, popular person continuing to reach out to a delinquent even though the outreach is strongly rejected. The individual doesn't need this person, but he continues to reach out even though there is a level of embarrassment. He comes back the next day to inquire. He tries unique ways to bless and get that ones attention. He does this for a lifetime. The delinquent isn't a candidate for today's verse. That's for His children. God is seeking to offer adoption to make it so.
The Lord seeks to enlighten us about our blessed state as well as our future, more blessed state. This is so elevating. We were like pigs in the mud, then we're born again, so we no longer seek vile things, we live on a higher plane. We are now children of privilege and on a similar mission to the Lord's. That is to seek to bring others to Him. We share our testimonies to enlighten others that they can join the blessed way.
We seek to share not out of obligation, but out a desire to pass on this amazing news that has blessed us. We pray and seek opportunities. God is doing so much more on His end. He moves circumstances and gives everyone nudges to lead them to Him. As Revelation says, He is knocking on the door of their hearts as well. He wants them to enter that blessed state, so He can pour blessing and love on them.
This is only possible because of the cross. We were in sin and hostile to God. He sacrificed Himself to save us. He laid aside His privileges and power to become a man and live facing everything that we do. Yet He didn't sin. Then that day, He was unjustly tried and sentenced to a horrible death. That was just the physical. There was the mental and spiritual which was much more harsh. The sins of all poured out on Him. An incalculable price. Thank You!
Lord, thank You for all You've done for us and all that You'll do. Thank You for Your great sacrifice. Simply amazing.
