He’s Got Us

I Samuel 26:19
“Now then, please let my lord the king listen to the words of his servant. If the LORD has incited you against me, may He accept an offering; but if it is people, cursed are they before the LORD, because they have driven me out today so that I would have no share in the inheritance of the LORD, saying, ‘Go, serve other gods.’

David has been pursued by Saul for quite some time. In the end it was getting close to 10 years. This was frustrating for him. The suggestion he gives to Saul tells us much. It's clearly not from God, but he honors Saul as if it were. David is showing deference and respect. He could have killed him. He is pointing out that Saul has nothing to fear from him.
In another sense, he might be interviewing for a job. He points out to the fearsome general was sleeping on the job, as were all his men. The sentence for this kind of negligence was death.
David also criticizes Saul's advisors. David says they are cursed. He describes what a wise advisor would have said, for David to make a peace offering. He states that they aren't acting as such, so they are cursed.
David describes his state of being ostracized. He's away from the tabernacle and the entire system of worship that God has set up. It's as if he's been banned and told to serve other gods. This against God's law.
We will find ourselves in tough circumstances that aren't deserved. It may not be fair. God hasn't lost control and He isn't upset with us. Peter says this about these times in 4:12, 13 of his first epistle, "Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though something strange were happening to you; but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that at the revelation of His glory you may also rejoice and be overjoyed." David hadn't done anything wrong. Yet, he was being pursued as a criminal.
We will also be misunderstood or have an undeserved enemies. We aren't to be surprised. The Lord is molding character in us. Quite the contrary, we are to rejoice. The apostles rejoiced at their persecution. God miraculously sprung them from prison. The evil one will seek to harm us, particularly if we are effective for Christ. The Lord will be our defender. He will dull their swords and thwart their efforts. God has a hedge about us.
God wasn't ready to free David from his wanderings. It will happen. God will continue to protect and prepare him. David was a man after God's heart. He still trusts the Lord and God still is caring for David.
The Lord has us also. Thank You, God. You do so much for us. I'm sure the majority is behind the scenes outside of our notice. Just like the miracle of the human body functions as it should with us understanding very little. You do show us some of the victories. Of which we are grateful. Thank You, God.
