Don’t Grow Weary in Doing Good

Galatians 6:9
“Let’s not become discouraged in doing good, for in due time we will reap, if we do not become weary.”

Paul issues this warning for we are susceptible to becoming discouraged. God sees all the workings from His perspective. It's often invisible to us. That's why we need to be in tune with Him. He will encourage us to hang in there in some areas, but not invest in others.
The discouragement is there. We often get weary and want to quit. Patience tends to be a problem in which we want things to fall into place much more quickly than they do. We want it resolved now. The Lord often prompt us to be more patient.
There are many story lines of someone who quits just short of the resolution. Us, the audience, see it and are cheering the character on to just hang in there. God and the angels are doing the same for us. Paul warns us as well. Hang in there. Don't quit.
Something that always been important to me is to greet others. I do it often. Not everyone responds. I personalize the message here. I try not to be discouraged when someone doesn't respond.
I know we all have blindspots. There is much not fully developed in our subconceous. Where might we be on the verge of giving up? Where do we need to hear this message? Proverbs 20:5 says, "But a person of understanding draws it out."
How do we do this? Being in God's Word in a big part. Being persistant helps. Not letting the curiosity go. God also provides understanding. Prayer taps into the Lord's power. Much of these responses are connected to the charge in Proverbs to get understanding. "Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding", (Proverbs 4:7).
Paul says not to stop doing good. I think of what Jesus said, that no one is good but God. Doing good is something that God wants. Where is our new goodness frontier? Where should we tap into that the Lord wants to help us be good. Give us wisdom, Lord.
The Lord likes to bless us in reaping from goodness. He rewards us for being on His team and participating in sowing goodness. It's so satisfying to work with Him. The Lord's Prayer says, "Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done." As we sow in goodness we are helping fulfill the establishment of His kingdom. What a priviledge. Thank You, God.
We do have limited time and resources. While there is much good out there, we can't do it all. It's a good prayer to know where we should continue in faithfulness and where we should stop investing. There may be other areas more deserving of our time.
Lord, help us to hang in there where needed and to extinguish where not. Thank You for the blessing of being on Your team and the honor You give us with the blessing of reaping.
