He Keeps Us

I Samuel 2:9
“He keeps the feet of His godly ones, But the wicked ones are silenced in darkness; For not by might shall a man prevail.”

What a wonderful promise, the Lord will keep our feet. We all stumble and make mistakes. This is referring to something greater. More along the lines of Jesus’ words from the Lord’s Prayer, “deliver us from evil” and “lead us not into temptation”.
Who qualifies for this? His children who want His guidance. Life is a wonderful gift, but it’s meant to be lived in conjunction with God. He seeks to bless us with life, creation, people, experiences to draw us to Him. Once in relationship with Him, He wants us to trust Him for daily guidance.
Much of the guidance comes from the bible. It forms our thinking and it teaches us how to follow Him. We learn to love in all circumstances, as well as to be patient.
He keeps us from stumbling at all levels of maturity. When young in Christ, He keeps when we are naive. He intervenes more and guides us away from evil. As we grow in maturity we have the wisdom to avoid particular circumstances.
The Lord also guides through intuition. There are times when a circumstance may be good (or neutral), yet we get a sense that it should be avoided. We gain this by practice (Hebrews 5:14). We will rarely know if this was God or a hunch. Each day is new adventure in which enter with our creator.
This is how He keeps us: scripture informs us, His power intervenes and He whispers directions. When life is lived this way, Eden has been restored. Lord, thank You for keeping us.
