I Thessalonians 5:24
“Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.”
This is day two on this verse and God’s faithfulness. Yesterday’s entry concluded with being thankful and how that show our trust in His faithfulness. As I lingered on that yesterday, I realized that I was tolerant with the circumstances, but rarely thankful. Tolerance is better than being resentful or anxious. However it doesn’t rise to the level of being thankful.
Romans 8:28 tells us that He works all things for the good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. We can go through some rough circumstances. David speaks of going through the “valley of the shadow of death” in Psalm 23. That’s tough. He spent nearly a decade on the run as a fugitive. King Saul knew David had been anointed king and that he had the people’s favor. To thwart that, he sought to put David to death. He charged the forces of the government (army and intelligence) towards that aim.
This is how bad things can get. However, we are to trust that God is faithful and that He will work all of that for our good. Our job is to trust Him and we demonstrate that by being grateful. We are thanking Him before He does the repair.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 says that, “He makes all things beautiful in His time.” The sculptor’s work has no appeal midway through the process. However, those that know his/her art, anticipate it. We can praise Him while He’s midway through the quarry of our lives. Some things are difficult. Yet, we can praise Him in the storm.
Giving thanks in all seasons demonstrates our faith. Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” We have the conviction that He will work it out. We praise at all times.
Lord, help us to be ever-praising You. Help us to be active in our faith and joy.
