I Samuel 1:10
“She, greatly distressed, prayed to the LORD and wept bitterly.”

As we have looked at Hannah these last few entries we have seen her at a low point in her life. All are with children around her and she is at the time of life when she is to have them. The other wife is openly mean and ridicules her bareness. Hannah’s husband is a shallow, self focused guy and her home isn’t the safe sanctuary that a home is to be. Thus she is greatly distressed. We see that she takes her grief to the main one who can help, the Lord.
The Lord knows and loves us best. Jeremiah 31:3 says, “…I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness.” The Lord knows Hannah’s state and her pain. It hurts Him to see her in such grief. Yet, He has His purposes. We are on the verge of learning that. This doesn’t take away from the fact that the Lord hurts when we hurt. Hannah knows this and goes to Him.
We will have the ebb and flow of life. We will also have the great distresses. There will be times when we are exhausted, stressed and can barely think straight. We are to have the habit of going to God, but especially at these low lows.
We need to be able to bring our to others. Blessed is the one that has such a support group. Hannah had no human to go to. This is partially why she is so upset. We usually get to vent to others throughout our days or weeks. This is healing. Possibly for advice and support, but atleast to be able to tell the story. This is like draining infection from a wound. We should also go to the Lord. Psalm 147:3 says, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
Lord, thank you for the wonderful people that are there for us and heal us. Thank You that You are there, as well. Help us to access all of these avenues when we are down.
