The Lord, Heaven’s Ultimate Prize, pt VI

Deuteronomy 32:50
“Then die on the mountain where you ascend, and be gathered to your people, as Aaron your brother died on Mount Hor and was gathered to his people.”

The greatest part of Heaven will be the Lord. Those who aren’t believers have a difficult time with this. First off God is great and worthy of our adoration. We could look at any aspect of creation and be in awe over the genius as well as the intricacies of how the pieces work together.
God is also worthy because of who He is. In Isaiah 6, the prophet saw God in His throne room. The angels sang praise while covering their eyes. He was too wonderful to behold. Isaiah immediately became self conscious about his shortcomings. Any of us would have the same response.
Just as people eagerly seek to meet celebrities and authors, so we should want to meet Him. His attribute of love will also draw us. The most loving person on earth is just a fraction of Him. He draws us and cares for us. He’s the Prodigal’s Father who waits, He’s the Good Shepherd who protects and provides and finally He’s the Savior who gave Himself up for us. As we walk with Him in this life, we grow ever fond of Him. I’m not sure how He can attend to multiple people at once, but all will want more of Him in Heaven.
Rev 21:7 has a great fatherhood description. “He who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son.” This parental role exist, if we are believers. However, it’s somewhat veiled. I was unaware for years. It’s much more obvious now. The Revelation verse seems to indicate a specialness. I Peter 2:9-12 speaks of the church. They are those that love Him, speak of Him and will be with Him. We have this very god-resistant world to get through. It’s as if He rewards that in Heaven. What a wonderful thing to have. I think of the wonderful people here and how enjoyable is the time spent. Heaven and the Lord will be far better. Heaven is for those who choose Him (mysteriously He chose us). He rewards that with a special parent/child bond.
Lord, thank You for this. We look forward to it. Thank You for the present relationship and the fulness it brings. Help us to draw ever closer.
