Deuteronomy 32:50
“Then die on the mountain where you ascend, and be gathered to your people, as Aaron your brother died on Mount Hor and was gathered to his people.”
This is session number four on the topic of Heaven. Last time the topic of our activity there was introduced. Most of the time was spent on our activity here on earth. Life is so good. Christian and nonchristian enjoy so many things. Many don’t make the connection with there hobbies, tastes and activities as being derived with how we and creation were designed. All good things can be traced back to God. If it be good food, good friends, sports and activites and so on.
With all this in mind, this world is full of hurt and sorrows. People are on medication and getting counseling for difficult emotions as well as problems they see as intolerable. Even though there is much goodness here, there is also much pain.
This is contrasted with Heaven. Revelation 21:4 says that in Heaven all tears will be wiped away. The great grief that many experience will be gone. I think of Maslow’s Pyramid of needs. There is the physical, food and shelter. There is health, then social and then esteem needs. Towards the top is self actualization. All of us are on some level. Our needs distress us. These will be satisfied in Heaven.
Earth is the place of partial understanding, but in Heaven all will be known (I Cor 13:12). Many are plagued by wanting answers. “How can this have happened?” There is so much we don’t understand. Many blame God. “How can a loving God have allowed…?” There really are answers. Unfortunately, we rarely get them here. Not knowing and the wrong conclusions separate people and cause much pain. That won’t be the case in Heaven. At the end of all explanations will be our marveling at God’s goodness and wisdom.
Lord, thank You for Heaven. Thank You that all tears will wiped away. Thank You for the perfection and completion that awaits. No more doubts and fears.
