Deuteronomy 32:50
“Then die on the mountain where you ascend, and be gathered to your people, as Aaron your brother died on Mount Hor and was gathered to his people.”
The last two sessions focused on the different aspects of Heaven. Today, I will look at a third, our activity in there. First off, there isn’t much description about activity, other than worshipping God. We’ll look more at that later. What would be helpful is to look at God’s nature and our present creation.
All throughout the Bible we see that God is good (Psalm 73:1). James 1:17 says that all good gifts come from God. At creation, the Lord pronounced all as good. How does this goodness play out with us?
All that we enjoy comes from Him. This is true for everyone, believer or not. What are the things we like, food drink, socializing, thrill, entertainment, art and so on. He created us with likes, tastes and appreciation. He created our world and I t’s physical laws. He gave us intelligence and ingenuity which creates the possibility for entertainment and/or profit.
Each day we wake up and look forward to things. This is how we were created. To enjoy the great things He gave us. We shouldn’t feel guilty about loving life. To partake and thank Him for it is being grateful.
As we acknowledge God as good in creation and understand that He wants to fulfill us, we can now trust Him that Heaven will be good. He also created work. He intends for it to be satisfying. It gives us purpose.
Understanding God, His creation and our place in it gives us a glimpse as to what Heaven will be like.
Lord, thank You for the great joy You give us in this life. Help us see Your hand in it all. Because of this, help us to yearn for Heaven.
