Deuteronomy 30:9
“Then the LORD your God will prosper you abundantly in all the work of your hand, in the offspring of your body and in the offspring of your cattle and in the produce of your ground, for the LORD will again rejoice over you for good, just as He rejoiced over your fathers.”
The Lord rejoices over us and is glad to bless us. This is good news. Some know this to a degree and others don’t understand this side of The Lord. In our western culture, most understand that God loves us.
He blesses us all in a general sense because He created this great world. It’s beauty is a daily delight. He created us and the things that make us happy. Our hobbies and drives were from Him. They are all part of how we were created. These things make life fulfilling.
Today’s verse is referring to something different. It’s the joy God has when we are walking with Him. We can see this joy in the Prodigal Son’s father at the homecoming (Luke 15:11-32). He throws a party.
What does it mean to walk in a manner pleasing to God? It’s when we live a life consistent with the bible and He is our lord. The bible specifies that we should have a prayer life (Ephesians 6:18), be reading the bible (Joshua 1:7,8), going to church (Hebrews 10:25) and serving/sharing Christ’s love with others (Matthew 28:19, Galatians 5:13). Acts 2:42 sums that up in one verse.
Living a biblical life may seem overwhelming. However, it becomes much more fluid as we mature. Much like learning a golf swing. The golf pro may have all sorts of advice. However, it will be given in small bits over many sessions, so as not to be overwhelming. How much more will God be patient in teaching us (Matthew 11:29).
Lord, thanks for Your blessings and Your love. Help us to live with the knowledge of it. Help us to live a life pleasing unto You
