The Secret Things

Deuteronomy 29:29
“The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever, that we may observe all the words of this law.”

Through our days, we have plenty of questions. Some of which The Lord has addressed in His Word. There are some that have gone unanswered. For these we have to trust Him.
Some are angry over these unaddressed issues. They attribute blame to The Lord and will not go to Him. This is a sad scenario. I think they have a misunderstanding.
The bible says that God is fair and just (2 Thessalonians 1:6, Psalm 25:8-14). Job was questioning this. However when God showed up, he understood. Here’s the account of it in Job 42:5,6 “I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear; But now my eye sees You; Therefore I retract, And I repent in dust and ashes.” Romans 3:19 speaks of how every mouth will be shut up. One day we will all understand and will not have any rebuttals. We will all agree with His fairness.
He has given us enough information that He deems reasonable. For the rest, we will need to trust. This isn’t easy; particularly if we have suffered a great loss and are struggling. The apostle Thomas was made famous with his doubt. He had given up everything three years earlier to follow Jesus. He knew He was the messiah. He was traumatized by Jesus’ enemies unfairly rigging the courts to condemn Him. His skeptical nature wouldn’t allow him to believe. Jesus appeared and said this, “Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed” (John 20:29).
Jesus indicates that trusting is the right thing to do. It won’t be easy. Once we go through the process of “letting go”, the bitterness may resurface and we may have to do it again. It may take months or years. The Lord will help. A father of a sick child once implored of Jesus for healing. The child had suffered since birth. Jesus asked the dad to believe. He responded, “Lord, I believe. Help my unbelief”, Mark 9:24. It will be a struggle. God understands and will help. It will take time.
Lord, help us to trust You with the secret things. Help us with our doubts in the difficult days.
