Hearing His Voice, pt II

Deuteronomy 26:17
“You have today declared the LORD to be your God, and that you would walk in His ways and keep His statutes, His commandments and His ordinances, and listen to His voice.”

Last time we addressed God’s voice in a general sense. Today we will see how to detect it personally. The primary way God speaks is through His Word, the Bible. 2 Timothy 3:16 says, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for instruction, for conviction, for correction, and for training in righteousness”.
The Psalms show David’s love for God’s Word. Psalm 119:16 says, “I shall delight in Your statutes; I shall not forget Your word. Gimel.” We are to make it a priority. We are to read it, study it, and attend a church that teaches it.
The bible gives us instructions on how we are live, how God thinks of us, how we are to relate to others, our relationship to nature, how the gospel is to affect our lives and so on. The Timothy passage says it’s good for instruction, conviction, correction and for training in righteousness.
God wants bless us. The main way we get that is to live in alignment with His Word. As we are in the bible and obey it, our lives become more full and rich.
God communicates to us through His Word. A few verses later in Psalm 119, verse 118 says, “Open my eyes, that I may behold Wonderful things from Your law.” He does. It’s often not at the moment, but as we go through our day, He will bring things to remembrance. I can recall being amazed at the so called coincidence as a young christian. It wasn’t that at all, but God bringing to life His Word in life.
Lord, thanks for Your Word. Thanks that it interacts, guides and teaches us so much. Thanks for the blessings You give as we abide by it.
