Deuteronomy 26:11
“and you and the Levite and the alien who is among you shall rejoice in all the good which the LORD your God has given you and your household.”
All the people were to rejoice in all God has given them. They would be in the promised land; the destination of promise. It’s what they have anticipated for hundreds of years. Now they were there.
We are to also give thanks to God for all He has done for us. Philippians 4:4 says, “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!”
We are to rejoice in the good things He has given to and done for us. We aren’t to forget those things. We are to look back and reflect gratefully on them.
For the Israelites, they were guided and provided for in every circumstance. While in Canaan originally, they were facing a famine. God had supplied food for the known world through Joseph and the dreams. He led them to Egypt to avoid starvation. He blessed them there for a generation. He delivered them from slavery in a miraculous way. He guided them through the wilderness. He taught them maturity in the process. He delivered them from enemies. He brought them in the land.
We are to remember the things The Lord has done for us. He protected us in our before Christ state. He arranged circumstances that allowed us to accept Him. He guides us gently depending on our level of maturity. Isaiah 40:11 says, “… And carry them in His bosom; He will gently lead the nursing ewes”. He blesses us with friendships. He puts us into circumstances in which we use our talents. He blesses us with success (Psalm 1:3). He gives us
honor (Psalm 23:5); and on and on. We are to recall these things and give thanks for them.
Lord, thanks for all You’ve done for us. Help us to remember and be grateful
