2 Peter 3:9
“The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.”
The Lord cares about all of us. He cares about those in His family and those who aren’t. Today’s passage says that He doesn’t wish for anyone to perish. This tells me that He attempts to reach them.
Revelation 3:20 says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with him, and he with Me.” Jesus is either knocking at the door of our hearts or He has been invited in and is communing with us. It’s the former for those who are perishing.
Romans 1:19,20 says, “For what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood from His workmanship, so that men are without excuse.” This passage tells us that God speaks to us through nature.
The Lord has blesses us with our senses and our tastes. We are able to enjoy life in such an amazing way. If it be through food, music, sports or hobbies. There is so much to enjoy. He created those things along with our desire for them. This further demonstrates His love for us. Our reflex response should be to thank Him.
He’s created us for relationship with Him. He is so good. Our true fulfillment comes by being in relationship with Him. David says in Psalm 84:10, “Better is one day in Your courts than a 1,000 elsewhere.” The joy that He gives us is so amazing. Life is an appetizer for that.
Lord, thank You that You are reaching out to us all day long. You bless us with friends, good songs, food, outreach opportunities and so on. Help us to grow ever deeper and we pray that those that don’t know You, that they would open their hearts to You.
