Deuteronomy 6:23
“He brought us out from there in order to bring us in, to give us the land which He had sworn to our fathers.”
We all have issues to deal with. Things that we wish weren’t present. Some of those things will be life long struggles. Paul is an example. He called it his thorn in the flesh. It says he prayed three times for it’s removal. The Lord told him that His grace was sufficient for him (2 Corinthians 12:7).
We have other issues that God wants to deliver us from. This doesn’t mean we won’t be tempted in those areas. We may battle that while we’re on earth. That’s different from giving in to that struggle. Hebrews 4:15 says that Jesus was tempted in all areas, yet without sin. These things aren’t to be a theme in our lives.
Today’s passage says that He brought us out to bring us in. Into what? An abundant christian life. What doess that look like? 1 Peter 1:9 ssys, “Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory”. He wants to fill us with a joy that’s indescribable.
What else is in this full life? Fruitfulness. Galations 5 gives a list: “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.” We will still have frustrations, but He will be using those to build this type of character.
What else? Fruitfulness in ministering to others. Whatever gifts we have we will be using them to bless others. Our lives won’t be self focused.
We aren’t worried that we won’t get our share. God has taken care of that.
We hhave learned the blessing of generosity. Malachi 3:10 prompts us to give. When we do, The Lord gives back so much that it overflows.
Lord, thank You for calling us out. You’ve delivered us from plenty of bad things. You continue to do so. Help us to enter in to the abundant life.
