1 Peter 1:23
‘for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God. For, “ALL FLESH IS LIKE GRASS, AND ALL ITS GLORY LIKE THE FLOWER OF GRASS. THE GRASS WITHERS, AND THE FLOWER FALLS OFF, BUT THE WORD OF THE LORD ENDURES FOREVER. And this is the word which was preached to you.’
The marvel of the Word of God. This is why we value the bible so. It’s powerful. Just as physical laws govern the universe, so His Word rules. Matthew 24:35 says, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.” There is power behind His Word. There are powerful people who enact their wishes. Words of presidents and kings send people into war.
By His Word, we were born again. He described the way. So, if we follow it, it works. The Way is confession of our sins, receiving His forgiveness and yielding to Him. If anyone does that, regeneration occurs. That one is born again; a child of God. Because He said it, it works. Anytime in history or the future, any place on the earth it will work. Just like gravity works in our atmosphere, so His Word works.

This is why we need to be in the bible. All of His Word is reliable. The more we align our thoughts and life styles with the bible, the more solid it becomes. Jesus describes this process as building one’s life on the rock. Matthew 7:24-27 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. “And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock. “Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. “The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell—and great was its fall.”
Abiding by His Word is important to know as a bank of knowledge, but we must have a steady diet of it. It has to be at our attention. In the parable of the sower, Jesus describes the four types of soil. Three of them were not fit to grow. They were 1) the worries of life, 2) poor understanding so one gets talked out of it, 3) shallow depth which tough times kill it and the 4) good soil. All of these are attitudes of the heart. Being in the Word, church and associating with christians helps tend the soil and keep our hearts right.
Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” The difference between bread and tortillas is yeast. It’s alive and causes the bread to rise. Being in the bible allows God to work in us is greater ways. The passage talks about judging intentions and thoughts. Growth in life comes from insights. The bible is like a super growth agent. We learn much more about ourselves at a greater rate.
Lord, thank You for Your Word. Help us to stay in it on a daily basis.
