Numbers 11:22,23 “Should flocks and herds be slaughtered for them, to be sufficient for them? Or should all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to be sufficient for them?” The LORD said to Moses, “Is the LORD’S power limited? Now you shall see whether My word will come true for you or not.” God told Moses that He was going to provide meat for the people. Not only for a meal, but for a month. Moses couldn’t figure out how it was going to work. So, he asks God how. He’s thinking sheep, cattle or fish. God does something different. The actual method never entered his mind. This is interesting, because Moses is the one who was the vessel for all of the miracles. Yet, now he is mystified. I wouldn’t say he was doubting, but he doesn’t understand. This is where all of us are at when we are new in Christ. We get anxious. Then as the months and years go by, we get to see The Lord provide. Most of the time it’s through the natural course of events. Sometimes it’s miraculous. However, as we live through the difficulties, it’s all miraculous. Others may be able to explain it away, but we know He was crucial in our circumstances. Moses was burdened by the complaints. God tells him that He’ll provide. But Moses still doesn’t understand. The burden is still present. He’s still worried and overwhelmed by the people’s whining. This is our story many times. God tells us He’ll provide, but we are often low on faith and we agonize with the situation. As we live through this scenario multiple times, we begin to trust Him. We still may ask Moses’ question, “how is this going to happen”. However, we are to trust Him and have peace through the process. He wants us to have peace amidst the storm. Isaiah 26:3 says, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” We need to focus on God and His greatness, not the complexity of the problem. This can be difficult, because most issues involve our action. So, we have to be involved. Yet, we need to keep The Lord in our thoughts and prayers. By keeping current in our daily devotions is important, if this peace is to be maintained. By staying in God’s Word and being in prayer feeds our faith and keeps the peace. We will still be tempted to doubt, but we don’t have to pursue it. Moses encouraged the people a few months earlier not to fear the pursuing Egyptian army. Exodus 14:13 says, ‘But Moses said to the people, “Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of the LORD which He will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you will never see them again forever.”‘ Lord, thank You that You are involved in our lives. Thank You that You will help us in our difficulties. Help us to trust You. Help us to abide in Your “perfect peace”.
