Exodus 23:31 “I will fix your boundary from the Red Sea to the sea of the Philistines, and from the wilderness to the River Euphrates; for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and you will drive them out before you.”
God makes a place for His people. The Hebrews were slaves for over 400 years in Egypt. Yet they lived in Goshen. That was the most lush portion of the land. Now they were enroute to their new home.
God will also make a place for us. This can have many applications based on what our needs are. He provides a place for us socially. Philipians 4:19 says “And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” We certainly have social needs. We are to choose wisely (Proverbs 12:26), but He will help us.
He will also make room for us professionally. He will give us opportunities. 2 Corinthians 2:12 says, “Now when I came to Troas for the gospel of Christ and when a door was opened for me in the Lord,” This is interesting because he does this in conjunction with us. Proverbs 8:16 says, “A man’s gift makes room for him And brings him before great men.” As we do our best with our skills and knock on doors, He will provide us with opportunities.
God knows how important it is for us to have our space. We grow anxious without it. It may be a residence. Our kids need space. God will help us with our provision (as we follow His principles) and guidance to a place. Being crowded produces stress. We need space. He will help us with what we need.
Our free will has a part in this. If we asked Him what we should have for dinner, that is not what He wants. We can pray for wisdom and guidance, but He won’t choose for us. So also we pray for His help in provision and guidance.
Psalm 23 has this type of provision all throughout. “He makes me lie down in green pastures”, “He leads me by the still waters”, “He prepareth a table before me in the presence of my enemies”, “I will dwell in the house of The Lord”, He makes sure we have a place all throughout our lives. One can sense the needs being met. Where ever we are and whatever we need, He’ll be there to make space for us.
He made a place for Jesus to be born. The stress was great, as Joseph was trying to find a place for his pregnant wife. God had a special reason for choosing a stable. But He had a place.
Thank You, Lord, that You make a place for us. You care for us enough to make sure we have the room we need.
