Tell Your Friends…

Exodus 18:8-10
Moses told his father-in-law all that the LORD had done to Pharaoh and to the Egyptians for Israel’s sake, all the hardship that had befallen them on the journey, and how the LORD had delivered them. Jethro rejoiced over all the goodness which the LORD had done to Israel, in delivering them from the hand of the Egyptians. So Jethro said, “Blessed be the LORD who delivered you from the hand of the Egyptians and from the hand of Pharaoh, and who delivered the people from under the hand of the Egyptians.”
There are many places in the bible that tell us to share the good things that God has done for us. Mark 5:19  “Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” We all have a sphere of influence. These are friends, family and coworkers. We have instant credibility with these. They know us and they will listen to us.
We all have problems that we are dealing with. If most were asked what’s on their mind, there is probably something worrying them. It might not be big, but there is always something going on. Many people pray. Some don’t. Today, more are agnostic and athiest. These also have problems. The testimonies that we are to speak are great news to these. We all want our problems to be resolved. To hear examples of God assisting is welcome.
Jethro shows us the desired response, God getting recognition. Our hearers probably won’t break out in praise, but that’s ok. It’s like getting a referral for a good handyman. Everyone is excited to hear. They are partially glad for us, but also excited to try. This is the best way to share our faith. It’s not planned or canned. It’s naturally coming from us. We don’t have to share more than the story.
Lord, help us to take advantage of these opportunities. Help us to not be timid. Help us to glorify You.
