Noah, Part Two

Hebrews 11:7

By faith Noah, being warned by God about things not yet seen, in reverence prepared an ark for the salvation of his household, by which he condemned the world, and became an heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.
2 Corinthians 5:7 says, “We walk by faith, not by sight.” Noah performed his actions based on God’s warnings and promises. We also are to walk by faith. He tells us that He will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we are able, but will provide a way of escape. (1 Cor 10:13). If we avoid trouble and take right actions when it arises, God will help us. This is a great promise. It gives peace of mind knowing He’ll help. We can have the confidence of David, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will not fear for though art with me.”
By faith, He will give us peace. “And may the peace of God which passes all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds Through Christ Jesus…” Philippians 4:7. We may have tumultuous circumstances, yet God can give us peace. The passage says it’s beyond our understanding. It doesn’t make sense. We should be stressed, but His peace will fill us. He does this by faith. Just as Noah obeyed based on the character of the message giver, God, so we learn to trust Him.
We can trust Him with our future. Proverbs 3:5 & 6 says, “Trust in The Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.” As we commit our plans to Him and pursue that which seems right, He’ll guide us. He will close some doors and open others. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “I know the plans I have for you… to give you a future and a hope.” God wants better things for us than we do for ourselves. This is hard to believe, as we all hope the best for ourselves. As a parent gives, withholds, guides and encourages, so God will do the same for us, if we allow Him.
Just as God helped Noah, so He’ll help us. Thank You, God, that You are faithful and good.
