Can He Be Trusted?

Hebrews 10:22
“Let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith…”
Faith is an interesting thing. It’s how God wants us to relate to Him. We don’t see Him, yet we are to put our trust in Him. If someone were to offer us a deal sight unseen, we probably wouldn’t take it. So, why do we trust in God? It’s because His deal is so solid, that it would be foolish not to.
First off, He built us to trust. I buy books off Amazon without fear. I trust my vehicles to get me there. If we couldn’t trust anything, our lives would be anxiety riden. To find something trustworthy, brings rest to that area of our lives. We are always seeking something to trust in. He is the ultimate satisfier of that need. He asks us to trust Him. Secondly, He is trustworthy. I can do the aforementioned actions, because they are “sure bets”. I know my car works, etc. He has given us the bible, which tells us all the areas inwhich we are to trust Him. It also gives us a multitude of examples of His faithfulness. God gave us bible prophecy to show us that the bible is His word and can be trusted. I spoke of this in an earlier blog, Unique to Christ. Next, in what are we to trust Him? He says He will give us daily bread. I see this as meeting our needs, emotional, social, psychological, etc. He promises to guide us (Prov 3:5,6). He promises to fill our hearts with gladness (Ps. 16:11). He promises to prosper us (Josh 1:8). And on and on.
Faith is more than a mental exercise. It’s a spiritual trust. Faith comes by hearing and hearing from the Word of God (Rom 10:17). As we read the bible, our trust grows. The bible is spiritually organic (Heb 4:12). Just as a seed that enters moist soil grows, so the bible in our hearts and minds grows. If we are having difficulty trusting, get into the bible and ask Him for help and guidance. Our faith starts as a mustard seed and will grow to strong tree, as we continue in His Word.
Than You, Lord, that You can be trusted. Thank You for the peace You give us, because of your trustworthiness.
